  • Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and Biosphere Reserve are located on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River in the extreme east of India’s Assam state. Dibru-Saikhowa, with an area of 340 square kilometres, is known for its pristine scenic beauty as well as its vibrant wildness. Dibru-saikhowa, located in the Brahmaputra floodplain, is a safe haven for many extremely rare and endangered wildlife species.


  • A cruise through the area would be ideal for spotting wildlife such as brightly coloured wild horses, slow loris, capped langur, hoolock gibbons, and so on.
  • Aside from that, one can see the endangered Gangetic river dolphin, which is usually difficult to spot, as well as a variety of migratory birds.
  • Eight turtle and snake species, two monitor lizard species, and 62 different fish species have also been documented. So far, 36 mammal species have been identified, with 12 of them listed in Schedule 1 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972. The park is a naturalist’s paradise and home to over 350 species of birds, the majority of which are migratory.

Day 1.

How to Fly to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park:

The nearest airport is located 40 kilometres away in Mohanbari, Dibrugarh. The other airport is 500 kilometres away in Guwahati.

By Train: The distance between Tinsukia railway station and Guijan and Dhola entry points is 10 km and 50 km, respectively.


By Road: Regular buses run to and from Tinsukia, which is well connected to all of Assam’s major cities.

Best Time to Visit:

The best time to visit the Dibru-Saikhowa cruise is from November to April.
